    Question

The PMS doesn't seem to be to accurate with regards to timing. What is your engine timing set to? Also what is your max retard on the PMS?

I've set my engine to 8 BTDC to get rid of detonation. However, with no boost timing to +9 deg on the PMS to get 17BTDC, off idle response is bad.

On the other hand setting the engine to 16 BTDC and PMS to -12deg for a total of 4BTDC still results in knocking?

What is happening here? Is that PMS that inaccurate?

    Thanks.

I havent had that problem but mines on a B18C1 so I'm not sure how much difference that would make.

My best results seemed to be with the timing set at the distributor to 14-15 BTDC and retarding the timing at max boost @6 degrees especially in the 2-4K range.

I will add that I've never really heard much detonation but I can see it in the J&S display.

I will also add that recently I've had trouble keeping the cars performance up after it's thouroughly heated up since the temps around here have gotten hotter. I think it's OBDII related but it always cuts the timing after a good run and starts to feel sluggish, so I've returned to closer to JR recommended timing until I can figure it out, or get the software (or Zydyne if it's ever released).

Are you using the "stand alone" function on the InterACQ software and if so doesn't it allow you to create your own timing curve??

I haven't used the stand alone feature yet. But yes it will allow you to create your own timing curve.

Thanks for your reply. I'll try playing around with my timing and I'll tell you what happens.
